Wordbot.net

Wordbot is a brand new tool created to assist readers and writers. Its goals are to make it easy to find information based on the full text of a document and to expose news sources by a wide variety of categories.

It can read text pasted in by a user or at any URL, and parse tags from the text to display relevant information including rich local news search from Daylife, books search from Amazon, and web search from BOSS.

Wordbot also allows multiple users to view and comment on a document parsed by Wordbot at a hard to guess URL.

It can search for news by query, and filter results by source category and location, as well as syndicate content from a selection of sources (for example, all the media content from New York City).

Another aim of Wordbot is to promote readable text on the web. Currently, it can provide a number of readability scores for any URL.

Additionally, Wordbot provides its full text parsing library under an open source license for other PHP developers, and also provides its index of Daylife sources, which includes data about source locations, categories, and other metadata. You can get Wordbot's free stuff here.

Psychic Searcher

http://scheedule.com/~gschech2/Hack/PsychicSearch/

Psychic Searcher analyzes your content and delivers you with relevant resources. Psychic Searcher breaks the traditional ideas of having the user initiate the gathering of resources, by showing relevant items as the user is writing.

Imagine if you were a student writing a paper. Psychic Searcher could analyze what you were writing about and deliver you with the news articles, images, and search results that you need to write your paper.

Psychic Searcher is just an example how what can be done with context analysis. Ideally a tool like Psychic Searcher would be integrated into a text editor like Microsoft Word. It could be used as a tool to retrieve information and images that might be useful to the user. This could be more effective because we could do a context analysis on just the active paragraph. Psychic Searcher is by no means a replacement text editor, but is rather some exploratory development in enhancing the user’s ability to gather information asynchronously.
